Oleh SahamaBANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 27 Mac - Warga Sekolah Rendah Haji Tarif (SRHT), Kampong Tamoi Tengah gembar apabila siren kecemasan berbunyi menandakan bangunan sekolah hendaklah dikosongkan dengan segera. Sebaik sahaja menyedari asap keluar daripada papan suis (switch board) bilik komputer, guru pengawas keselamatan terus membuat panggilan kecemasan 995. Kesemua pelajar dan guru-guru sekolah tersebut dengan segera berkumpul di kawasan berkumpul (assembly point) yang telah ditetapkan. Dalam masa kurang daripada tiga minit, seluruh bangunan sekolah dikosongkan dan guru kelas serta ketua penuntut sibuk mencatat kehadiran para penuntut dan mendapati dua pelajar tidak ada. Dengan pantas, pasukan bomba dan penyelamat Operasi D, Pasukan Bomba Laut dan Bomba Pelancaran menangani kejadian tersebut, dan menemui dua murid yang terkurung dalam tandas dan berjaya diselamatkan. Senario ini merupakan latihan kecekapan mengosongkan sekolah dengan pantas untuk menangani sebarang bencana alam atau kebakaran yang diadakan pada hari ini. Setelah selesai latihan berkenaan, guru besar sekolah berkenaan Dayang Hamiltun binti Haji Abdul Samad dan guru-guru kanan mendengarkan 'post-mortem' daripada Pegawai PRO Operasi 'D'; SO Matassan bin Md Yusof. Tujuan latihan tersebut diadakan agar warga sekolah memahami, mengetahui dan mematuhi serta bertindak dengan betul untuk menyelamatkan diri di peringkat awal dari bahaya kebakaran dan lain-lain kecemasan. Di samping itu, latihan ini juga dapat melatih murid-murid supaya jangan panik dan terus meninggalkan kelas dengan teratur tanpa membahayakan diri sendiri dan orang lain. |

The group was accompanied by an officer from the travel agency Hj Mohd Nordin bin Haji Narawi while the 'mutawwif' was Ustaz Mohd Hatta bin Hamsan (an Indonesian citizen living in Mecca). In addition to performing prayers at the Nabawi Syarif in Makkah Al-Mukaramah, the delegation also had the opportunity to pray at the Mosque of Quba (the first mosque built by Prophet Muhammad), Qiblatain Mosque (Mosque of Two Qiblats), Bir Ali Mosque and the Jaranah Mosque. The delegation also had the opportunity to visit historic places such as Al-Baqi and Martyrs Battle of Uhud Cemetery, Jabal Uhud, Jabal Thur, Mina, Arafat, Muzdalifah and dates market. |

Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School (SMSSA) in Kg Salambigar held a prize and certificate presentations for its top students for the year 2011 recently, at the school's Salambigar Hall. A total of 59 students successfully passed their Brunei-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level exams with flying colours. Manmit Singh Jasbeer Singh, one of the SMSSA students, obtained 10 'O's with 3A*, 3A and 4B, while 22 students obtained 9 'O's, 17 students earned 8 'O's and 19 students obtained 7 'O's. The ceremony also saw 10 outstanding students receiving the 'Student Progress Examination' (SPE) 2011 award and six students receiving their certificates for best attendance. Present as guest of honour at the event was Pg Hj Zahri bin Pg Hj Ahmad, the Acting Assistant Director (Administration) of Schools at the Ministry of Education. |

79 outstanding SMPIHM students receive awards | |
By SahamaA total of 79 students from Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Secondary School (SMPIHM), Serasa, including 11 students who excelled in the BGCE 'O' Level examination in 2011 attended the Best Student Award Presentation Ceremony held at the school multi-purpose halls. The guest of honour was Awang Haji Kassim bin Haji Mohd Yassin, Acting Director of Schools, Department of Schools, Ministry of Education. The event started with the recitation of surah al-fatihah, led by the Head of Religious Department, Awang Haji Mohd Shahril bin Haji Abdul Rani. The school principal, Ms Joanna Lim Jok Hon, spoke at the event. She said that every year the school has seen more students entering the pre-university education for further studies and that she expects the award recipients would boost the morale of other students in their pursuit of excellence through the important values ??of perseverance and resilience in learning. The event continued with the presentation of prizes and certificates to outstanding students by the guest of honour. The highlight of the ceremony was the prize presentation to the Best Student in GCE 'O' Level Examination 2011 Dayangku Nur Hafizah binti Pengiran Damit. Meanwhile, Nur Aimi Diyana binti Awang Damit received the award for Best in School Improvement Assessment (SPA) 2011 and Mohd Ahmad Syakir bin Zulkifli received the award for Best in Vocational Secondary Programme 2011. Also present at the event were Awang Haji Said bin Haji Salleh, Deputy Head of Academic; Haji Mohd Ali bin Haji Zainal, Deputy Head of Administration; officials from the Ministry of Education, teachers and parents. |

Oleh Sahama Sekolah Rendah Haji Tarif, Kampung Tamoi Tengah akan bertemu Sekolah Rendah Pintu Malim, Kota Batu dalam Perlawanan Bolasepak bagi Sekolah-Sekolah Rendah Kawasan Brunei I di peringkat akhir yang akan diadakan esok di Padang Pulaie setelah berentap hari ini menewaskan lawan masing-masing. Perlawanan Bola Sepak Antara Sekolah-Sekolah Kawasan Brunei I dianjurkan oleh Jabatan Pendidikan Ko-kurikulum yang dikendalikan oleh Sekolah Rendah Pintu Malim sebagai tuan rumah. |
