The Consultative Council of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong, Mukim Serasa will hold a mini marathon competition in conjunction with the 27th National Day of Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Brunei-Muara District Department, Ministry of Home Affairs, Brunei Darussalam.
A discussion on the forthcoming event by the committee members was held at the Setia Ali Mosque meeting room in Pekan Muara.
The meeting discussed the appointment and tasks of committees during the mini marathon, entry requirements, registration date and the roads to be travelled by the participants. The chairman of the meeting was Pengiran Haji Muhamed bin Pengiran Haji Osman @ Othman, who is also as Head of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong, Mukim Serasa.
The competition is divided into seven categories. A, B and C categories will run as far as eight kilometres starting from Muara Beach and ending at Serasa Beach. Where in contestants D, E, F and G categories will run six kilometres starting from Gerami Seri Muara and ending at the Serasa Beach,
Category A is for male veterans 40 years and above while Category B and C for men and women are open for those from 19 to 39 years old.
Men and women residents of Mukim Serasa aged 13 to 18 years old will be in the D and E categories. Whereas Boys and girls are in the open categories of F and G.
Among the goals are to enliven the celebration and promote physical and mental health among the local community through fitness activities and also to create vibrant and healthy communities.
Individuals interested in the competition may register for participation at the Water Sports Complex, Youth and Sports Welfare Building, Pantai Serasa on March 12 from 9.00am to 5.30pm.
In addition, a boat race event will also be held.
