Kg Masjid Lama Consultative Council produces 'Fish Lumai' | |||

Members of the Village Consultative Council of Kampong Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong gave a practical demonstration on how to prepare "Fish Lumai" at the residence of Awg Hj Muhammad bin Hj Ibrahim, one of the consultative council members. The word "lumai", according to the Brunei Malay dictionary, means fish or shrimp that is cut open to remove the bone to be salted and then hung up to dry. There are three types of 'lumai', namely salty and sour lumai, sweet and sour lumai and spicy, sweet and sour lumai. Fish Lumai is one of the products developed and manufactured by the consultative council members in their effort to fulfill the "One Village, One Product" concept introduced by the Ministry of Home Affairs. The products will contribute to the economic development of the village. Among those present at the event were Awg Matusin bin Orang Kaya Sura Hj Tuba, Senior Special Duties Officer at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Pg Hj Mohamed bin Hj Osman @ Othman, Head of Kg Masjid Lama, Pekan Muara, Sabun and Pelumpong; and Dato Paduka Hj Abd Rahman bin Abd Kahar, the council's Advisor. |
