Members of all age groups took part in the healthy activity. - SAHAMAThe Consultative Council of Kampong Tamoi Tengah and Ujong Tamoi led by its head, Awang Tarip bin Haji Asgar, organised and conducted its annual walkathon as part of efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle.
The walkathon, which was attended by some 150 people from all age groups in the area and immediate surrounding areas, took place along wide open spaces behind the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) at Jalan Tutong yesterday. The walk was also aimed at encouraging the youth to participate in activities deemed worthy that will help develop their self-esteem and character instead of falling into socially unacceptable practices.
The guest of honor at the walkathon was the Assistant Officer at the Brunei-Muara District Office, Awang Haji Abdul Hamid bin Dato Paduka Haji Abdullah.
The event commenced with light aerobics followed by the four and three kilometre walkathon for male and female participants respectively.
Also participating in the walkathon were the Penghulu of Mukim Tamoi, Pengarah Haji Mokti bin Mat Salleh, village heads in Mukim Tamoi and residents. |
