A total of 10 Entomology officers from the Environment Division of the Department of Health Services gave a briefing and an exhibition on 'Dengue Fever and the Aedes Mosquito Control' to 160 students of Haji Tarif Primary School (SRHT) in Kampong Tengah Tamoi recently.
The students were explained on the breeding of the Aedes mosquitoes, dengue fever and dengue haemorrhagic fever, dengue fever prevention, a mosquito's life cycle and habitat, and others.
Students were also exposed to a three-dimensional model of various types of mosquitoes and examples of living larva in a bottle. In addition, students also had the opportunity to look closely at the mosquito sprayer used by the entomology team to eradicate the mosquitoes, especially Aedes mosquitoes.
The students were accompanied by Dayang Hamiltun binti Haji Abdul Samad, the school headmistress, senior teachers, teachers and school staff members.
